TABS & TAB NAVIGATION

The site uses the plugin Tabby Responsive Tabs for its tabs. Tabby Responsive Tabs Customizer changes the CSS of the tabs very nicely. The plugin Tabby Link to Tab (with custom programming) allows links from tab to tab, and from a tabbed page to a specific tab on another page.

Variables:

‘tabgroup=1’ is only changed if you have more than one tab group on a page. We do not in this website

‘offset=X’ dictates how far down the ‘page’ the link jumps to. So offset=0 jumps to the top of the tab. offset=-800 jumps down about one screen; offset=-1600 jumps about two screens.

fade=400 controls the speed of the fade-in effect. I haven’t changed it.

• Shortcode link to Supporting Evidence Tab on SAME Page

ADDITIONAL LINKING AND NAVIGATION TECHNIQUES

The site uses WP External Links to open external links in a new window/tab. This is the plugin that puts the little box/arrow icon next to external links.

• URLs should not contain ‘www’. If a URL does contain ‘www’, it may not be counted as an external link, and may not open in a new window.

• If you want an internal link to open in a new window (i.e. be counted as an external link), then add rel=”external” or “target=”_blank” (the WordPress standard) to its URL
e.g.

• ‘Back to the Top’ links use the following technique. No anchor is required.
